@#$#0%! butterfingers.

I've gained four pounds in well under a week.

The Halloween candy and I are not on speaking terms.

@#$#0%! butterfingers.

Since I'm guessin' I'm not the only one with this issue, I'm sharing a fabulous little tip sent to me by my cousin-in-law, Jamie.  She did this with her kids and their candy and I'm planning on doing it too.

Introducing the Halloween Candy Christmas Countdown...

Have your kids pick out 25 favorite pieces of their Halloween candy and make Christmas countdown chains with it.  Lay a long piece of saran wrap on the floor, place the candy in the middle, fold over each side and tie in between each piece with ribbon.  It's helpful to use a different color of ribbon for each kid so that they will know which ones is theirs.  Store the loot safely on a shelf until December 1st and then reveal!

  1. good idea. I've put the candy up on the fridge, and it will be disappearing tonight after they go to bed. We went to the dentist today (first time) and the older boys have cavities, so no more candy for them! I'll save some for stocking stuffers, though and send the rest with James to the office for his candy jar. :)

  2. Good idea!! I usually use the candy they get from trunk or treat to use as pass-out candy on halloween. That cuts the amount down...then I do my part in eliminating all evidence of chocolaty goodness...again, cutting the amount of sugar highs my children have to endure. After that, well...I allow a few days of bouncing off the walls and ceiling then surreptitiously throw the gum and other offending pieces away.

  3. Great idea. I may just have to steal that idea, as well. I read on pinterest about the "Switch Witch". You let your kids eat candy for three days and then you put the rest out on the front porch and when they wake up the "Switch Witch" has switched out their candy for other little toys...i.e dolls, Pokemon cards, things like that.
I for sure have had to have it out of sight. The siren call of candy has been nearly too much for me to bear this year. Phillip has taken some candy to the office for his candy bowl on his desk, as well. I like the save some for the stocking idea as well. You guys are full of great ideas! :)

  4. I like all of those ideas. And I'm feeling a bit jipped, I didn't get a single Butterfinger in my kid's Halloween candy.
