In Honor of Father's Day

The past few days my husband has been dropping the following phrases randomly into conversations, or while watching TV, or at a quiet (ha, when is it ever truly quiet in our house?) dinner:

"I'mma firin' my laser!"

or
"I'mma chargin' my laser!"

Don't ask.

Really, don't ask.

My point is that it is a little idiosyncrasy that makes him more lovable. I think he keeps doing it because it earns a laugh, as well as a "you're so weird" look.

So, let's hear it. What do your husbands do that the rest of the world might find a little strange but you find endearing? (And don't tell me my husband is the only weird one, because then I'll know you're all liars).

  1. My husband has a really funny "duck" voice and it cracks me up. It's ironic because he really doesn't have a huge sense of humor, so when he does this (especially upon request), it makes my day.

I also find him more intruiging/charming when he wears his glasses.

  2. Oooh, the list could go on and on...

He refuses to take his black church socks off after church...so wearing shorts+black socks, wearing jammies+black socks
He makes me say "duck bums" 'cause he thinks it sounds funny
He sings to songs in an ugly voice...he has a good singing voice, but he won't sing that way, just ugly-totally ruins the song
He loves talking in weird voices
    He's a rear slapper. I walk by I get a "love pat"

Ok, I just reread the last of the post...these aren't really endearing, mostly annoying ;)

  3. Here are some nice ones...

He always answers the phone "hello beautiful" if he knows its me
He pretends to be really excited to talk to me on the phone, it is exaggerated, but it still makes me smile

  4. Let's see...

I love his tendency to do things a little dangerous with the kids...whether it's pushing and riding around on the shopping cart at break-neck speeds or tossing an infant (NOT a newborn, however) across the room for a friend to catch. I'm a little over-protective so they need someone a little more exciting in their lives.

All the many, MANY odd engineering things he does...calculate the center of the wall to hang a picture, know all-too-much about excel, etc.

His extreme cheapness is another one. My husband seriously has a spreadsheet (there's that engineer spirit again) for comparing the price of different grocery and household items at different stores.

Like Kit, his insistence on wearing church socks all day long, no matter what. Even worse, however, is the fact that he dresses in business dress for work so I get to have black socks worn when he comes how throughout the week :P

His ability to wear shorts all year round.

He always dresses up our babies in random items of clothing and does funny voices/poses with them. Ex: wedding ring as a monocle or a headlamp and overalls as a coal miner with accompanying quote..."*cough* I think I'm getting the Black Lung, Pop. It's not very well ventilated down there."

    You get the picture...

  5. Mine will look in the mirror when I'm brushing my teeth and start doing this double chin thing. Cracks me up so bad, and i get toothpaste everywhere.
He also LOVES to embarass our children in ways you could only imagine!
    His favorite saying:
Love me, squeeze me, hold me tight
    Jump my little bones tonight!
    yeah, never a dull moment.

  6. I believe I have blog about this.... :) Sort of. I promised not to post anymore of his tales on the internet, but I still tell them to all the girlies anyway! I love the way he uses words. He always mixes them up. Just tonight I was reading he text book allowed to him to help him study, but I was reading it with exaggerated inflection. He told me, "I can understand what you are say when you read it with all that inflammation." That's just the tip of the iceberg.
