Marriage and Kids

Because this blog nailed it on the head for me, I couldn't NOT share it.

It's a little lengthy but well worth the read. Especially if you are like me and wondering what happened to your marriage after kids...

  1. I remember hearing those same statistics in my child development class while very pregnant with my 2nd child. It was a little depressing and comforting all at once.

I've come to many of same conclusions that she posted at the end of her list too. Date nights and alone time are a necessity in marriage, along with allowing your children to be independent players. Not to mention surrounding yourself with other moms so you get some of that pseudo-familial support mixed in with a healthy dash of adult conversation. Little things like that can make a big ol' chunk of difference.

ps-I want a month long kid-free vacation too! Where do I sign up?!

  3. I remember feeling like that when my two oldest were 1 and 2, and then again when they were 2 and 3. I was blessed with a tight-knit group of moms of toddlers that lived in the same townhome complex with me, so I was able to have adult conversations daily. I really think I would have totally lost my mind without those wonderful girls! Now that my oldest is 6 and in kindergarten and my second is 5 and in pre-k, I love the schedule that school gives us. I don't miss the monotony of toddler-hood, although sometimes I do miss my babies being babies. It gets better.

Can I come on the beach vacation, too? I could definitely use one! :D

  4. I agree with the blog, totally! Alone time helps me stay sane, and there is nothing wrong with helping your children learn to play without mommy. Children do change everything. For the good, too. :)
